The Power Toilets in Heerhugowaard, Holland has been nominated for the Great Indoors Award 2011 alongside with train stations, concert halls and airports.
The Great Indoors Award is an international, biennial, interior design award that wishes to elevate interior design to the level of ‘mature discipline’. We attempt to provide the interior designer with a platform of stature, as well as to prompt debate and disperse information on interior design. The aim is to reward excellence and, at the same time, to show this work to the world.
The Great Indoors Award will honour interior design projects in four categories (Show & Sell, Relax & Consume, Concentrate & Collaborate, Serve & Facilitate). Four monetary prizes of EUR 5,000 will be awarded to the most innovative interior designs for both public and commercial spaces. After evaluating all competition entries, five nominees will be selected by our international jury and invited to send one representative to attend the Award Ceremony at the cost of the organization. The winners will be announced during the Award Ceremony on 4 November 2011, in Maastricht, the Netherlands. Nominees are presented on this website and will also feature in FRAME Magazine Jan/Feb 2012.
We hope to motivate and convince potential clients from both the private and the public sectors. Above all else, we want The Great Indoors to give the profession of interior design the status and position it deserves.
